John McGuinness on the HM Plant Honda has notched up an amazing 13 wins during the Senior TT race. He also lapped at an average speed of 130.354mph breaking the 130mph barrier for the first time.
A win eluded the fast talking Guy Martin on his Hydrex Honda once again as he came home second to McGuinness saying, “Massive respect to John for winning two TTs. I've said this and that but I'm obviously not ready to win one yet.”
The final place went to Ian Hutchinson on the second HM Plant Honda giving Honda another top three during the Centenary TT races.
McGuinness was over joyed taking the new lap record and pushing the average speed up, “Unbelievable, brilliant, brilliant, brilliant! I can't believe I've won twice in Centenary year and broken the 130mph barrier. I want to thank all the spectators and marshals around the track. The bike was amazing, pit stops were brilliant, the track was in good condition, I really enjoyed my days work.”
The new lap record has been a big talking point for some time now as McGuinness went on to say, “I knew I'd done 130mph when the Grandstand erupted as I came into pits. Then everyone was waving as I came into Quarter Bridge on lap 3, not bad for a brick layer winning 13 TTs. Last year the 129.4mph was amazing but 130mph was incredible. I'm speechless. Its amazing as its all we've been talking about for months now and I knew it was on on lap 2 as the track was dusty on lap one and here was oil and fuel down at Guthries.”
