One championship that is still being fiercely fought out is the 'R3' championship for two-wheel drive production class cars up to 2 litres in capacity. With two wins apiece Justin Dale and Matt Beebe are locked into a fierce duel and will both be relishing resuming their battle once the championship hits the gravel tracks again.
The S1600 championship has a new leader after Guy Wilks missed the Ulster Event. A well driven win by his Suzuki team mate, young James Wozencroft, has moved him to the top of the leader board, but Barry Clark, on board a Ford Fiesta S1600, is not far behind.
The Junior Category is another that is sure to be closely contested. Young Zimbabwean Conrad Rautenbach, despite skipping Ulster as he was competing in Africa, lies a mere 2 points adrift of Stuart Jones and as such a great battle is predicted amongst these young up and coming drivers eager to steal some of the more experienced drivers lime light.
The 2006 International Rally of Yorkshire, which features some of the classic stages of British Rallying, such as Langdale, Cropton and Dalby forests, consists of 108 miles of special stages and starts from The Pickering Showground at 9 am on Saturday October 7.
