In amongst the raft of Imprezas and Evos on British Rally stages, one car in particular stands out as being different from the rest.

The technology to build, or the amount of work required to build a WRC car with hybrid technology is a lot of work and I think the opportunities initially may be on race circuits as the operating conditions are much more controlled. You have a circuit and you go round it again and again so there is the chance to optimise the set-up of a car for a circuit whereas a rally stage, particularly at national and world level where you are competing on a wide variety of surfaces and under differing conditions with tyre factors and weather coming into play, means there is more to be considered for a rally application at that level. That is why we are looking more into the circuit avenue this year alongside the rallying.
