Rob Swann will continue his assault on the Tesco 99 Octane MSA British Rally Championship this coming weekend, when he takes in the Ulster International Rally.
Crash.net Radio’s caught up with the Englishman ahead of the fourth round in the series…
Crash.net:
Rob, the Ulster International Rally is almost upon us. What is the target for you on that event?
Rob Swann:
I think we are going to be looking for a top three finish in the BRC there. We had a good run on the Ulster last year and so that has got to be our goal.
Crash.net:
Thus far this season, you have notched up 29 points and you are currently fifth in the overall BRC standings. Generally speaking, are you pleased with that?
RS:
Yeah, I have been pleased with the results - and the pace that we have been running at. Unfortunately we had a non-finish on the Pirelli [round 1] and I believe we were running fourth going into the last but one stage there. Obviously we have a non-finish from that, which hasn’t helped us, but overall the pace has been good and we have been happy with that.
Crash.net:
The most recent event was the Rally Isle of Man - you finished fourth of the BRC runners there. That must have been a good boost after failing to finish on the Pirelli and only taking seventh on the Jim Clark?
RS:
It was - and we were unlucky to miss out on third. The gap was very close. All-in-all we were happy with that result though.
Crash.net:
After the Ulster there are two events left - the Rally International Yorkshire and Rally GB, which is a double points scoring round. Are you looking forward to those two events?
RS:
We have done Rally Yorkshire a number of times and I am quite confident going up there. As for Rally GB we always enjoy that. Obviously it is a hard event, a long event and you need good reliability. But I am looking forward to both of those.
