Q&A: James Wozencroft - EXCLUSIVE.

Tuesday, 25th September 2007

James Wozencroft speaks exclusively to Crash.net Radio’s Rob Wilkins.

JW:
In the BRC we are eight points off the lead for the [Rally 2] championship and so the aim for that is still definitely to win. We can’t actually win the Irish Tarmac Championship at the moment but we are planning to come second and we have got one more event left there. We need to try and get second there.

Crash.net:
The next BRC event is the Rally Yorkshire, how have preparations been going for that?

JW:
Good, the cars are all prepared and ready to go. We are off to Cork the weekend before the Trackrod and so we will have had plenty of time in the car. I am looking forward to the Trackrod - it should be a good event and we are back on the gravel.

Crash.net:
You recently competed in the WRC, when you stood in for P-G Andersson in Germany. You must have been pleased to get the call-up for that J-RC event?

JW:
It was an incredible experience – such a good weekend. The car was fantastic, the team were brilliant and it was just a great opportunity to drive against the world championship juniors. It was brilliant to do and I can’t wait to do it again.

Crash.net:
What are your plans for 2008? Is anything confirmed?

JW:
Nothing is confirmed yet. I would like to get some more rounds in the J-RC. That would be my ideal option. But we are just thinking about the rest of this season at the moment and then we will see what we can get together.

Crash.net:
Any idea when something might be announced for next year?

JW:
No, I don’t know myself yet. I will let you know when I know!

Crash.net:
Colin McRae was tragically killed last weekend, is there anything you would like to say on that?

JW:
It is a tragic loss. He has been my hero since I can remember really. It is just a great shame for the sport and my sympathies go to the family.
