The most spectacular to watch was Hugh Evans in the Team TQ Subaru. He was nearly in one side, but kept the power down and got away with it. Although it nearly put him in the ditch on the other side! It was a nice bit of car control to watch.
Back into the service area I gave some good wishes to my co-driver from the Isle of Man International last year, Rich Mills. Mills is co-driving for Martin Roberts in a Citroen C2R2 this season and my well wishes must have worked as they finished third in class and second in the C2-R2 Cup.
All-in-all it was good to do the recce and to meet up with people I have been competing with in the BRC over the last four years but watching now is just not the same as competing.
I will be at more events this year as a spectator just because of the lack of budget but the next round is the
Jim Clark International.
I’ve won the class there for the last three years and as the MG-ZR has not been sold, we will be competing there. It is also a round of the Global Group Irish Tarmac Rally Championship - a series I am hoping to compete in next year, driving for South West College, Omagh in a car they are preparing and running.
I am still hopeful of finding a budget to enable us to do more events this year too.
