Three in a row for Milner on Manx.

Three in a row for Milner on Manx.

Monday, 4th August 2003

To adapt a much-used football metaphor, the 2003 Manx International Rally was an event of three thirds - conveniently dividing into the three actual legs.

He was followed by: McKinstry (+ 4:57.5); McGarrity (+ 6:34.7); McHale (+ 7:41.9); Boland (+ 7:54.9); Leonard (winner of the Production class: + 15:15.2) Jennings (winner of Super 1600: + 18:07.2); White (+ 19:19.5); Cope (+ 19:43.6); and McHale Jnr (second Production class: + 24:05.6). Shelley Taunt (Nissan Micra) again won the Ladies’ Cup.

All in all, it was an exciting event, although it could have done with more finishers. In the Championship, Jonny now leads Austin McHale by 22 points. It’s still all to play for, although Jonny has a fair lead. With three rounds to go and one score to drop, it’s not beyond the realms of possibility for Jonny to be caught.
