Mark Higgins has taken victory on the Answercall Direct Ulster Rally today [Saturday], round six of the 2004 Kwik Fit Pirelli British Rally Championship.
Higgins beat Eugene Donnelly by 2 minutes 38.6 seconds, while Austin McHale was third, to close within one point of championship leader, David Higgins, who had to make do with ninth overall.
Mark Higgins told the official BRC website -
www.brcweb.co.uk: "After only getting the call to drive the car two weeks ago, to go on and win the Ulster is fantastic! It's great to be back in the British Championship."
Tim McNulty meanwhile was fourth, with Eamonn Boland fifth, and Matthew Wilson sixth his Ford Focus.
Gwyndaf Evans won the Super 1600 category, finishing seventh overall after the events 19 stages, 1.4 seconds up on Guy Wilks, who was eighth overall, and second in the S16 class.
Dessie Keenan took the Production category honours, nearly 24 seconds up on class rival Dick Curran.
In total 28 cars were classified at the finish, 59 having started the event on Friday.
The next event is the Trackrod Rally Yorkshire, which runs from October 2-3.
