John Lloyd moved up a place to seventh despite losing two gears in his Subaru on Sunday morning with Leon Pesticcio finishing eighth and David Higgins ninth. After suffering differential problems, Higgins incurred road penalties booking out of service late as the service team struggled to effect repairs. Unfortunately, they were unable to complete the job within the time allowed and Higgins left service with rear wheel drive only in his Mitsubishi although he was at least able to finish the event. Rounding off the top ten was Vesa Mikkola in the Renault Clio, the son of the legendary Hannu Mikkola making his first appearance in UK Rallying.
Another title which was clinched at the weekend was the Get Connected! Stars of the Future championship event as James Wozencroft and Rob Fagg claimed this year's title after a stunning five maximum scores from the five rounds so far with one to go.
"It was slippy and it was cutting up in places. It was hard to find your braking points in those conditions," Wozencroft said, "but we needed to win and we needed to finish, so I was cautious, but couldn't afford to be too cautious. The windscreen was steaming up in the rain and the tyres were going off in the longer stages, but we did it."
Matt Beebe has also clinched the runner-up position but third place is still wide open between Robert Barrett, Andrew merchant, Gavin Bristow, Dan Whitman and Phil Spratt.
