The real test for the team, however, came on Monday. The second stage of the day took place on Malin Head, famous for its inclusion in the shipping forecasts and infamous for swallowing up McCloskey and Henderson in a ditch. "It was a three left and the car understeered," said Connor, "I hold my hand up, it was a section of road I thought I knew and I was too fast into the corner and we went off. If it hadn't been for the spectators we would still be there now, so I would like to thank them all for getting us out."
The car was again mainly unscathed and they managed to regain one place to end the rally in eleventh place overall. "It has been a learning event," concluded McCloskey, "and I would like to thank Crawford for doing such a good job. Without his experience I don't think we would have improved so much since the start of the year. We're two seconds a mile quicker after just three events and he is still reining me in."
The next event is at the end of April and the car will have new Proflex suspension for the Rally of the Lakes starting in Killarney on Friday 28.
