Kumho Motorsport are to support a two car team in the Legend Fires MSA Asphalt Rally Championship, with Welsh pair Melvyn Evans and Mark Morgan joining forces for the season ahead.
The pair are expected to provide good results throughout the coming year and with both drivers in separate classes, will pose no threat to each others championship aspirations.
The first round of the Legend Fires MSA Asphalt Rally Championship kicks off on the Welshmen's doorstep with the Tour of Epynt, an event familiar to both drivers.
2006 023 Tiles Southern Four Champions Evans and his co-driver Sean Mullally from Limerick will lead the field away as they debut their recently acquired Subaru Impreza S9 WRC on the Mid Wales MOD ranges. Having won the event previously, Evans will be looking for more of the same.
"Sean has never competed over Epynt before and it will be a whole new experience for him, Evans explained. I know the place quite well and won this event the last time I competed on it. The car has been rebuilt since its last rally and we should be among the front runners despite not competing there for a few years."
Morgan and co-driver Tony Fisher will contest the rally in their Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII looking for Group N honours and a strong overall position. They are no strangers to the event, with their best result to date being fourth overall in 2002 and dominating the Group N showroom class in the process.
"Our main aim is the Group N spot but we will be pushing hard to get a finish inside the top ten, Morgan said. The competition in Group N should be close and the times throughout the day will be interesting." explained Mark.
"It should be a good this year for us with the Kumho Motorsport Team and having a driver of Melvyn's calibre with so much experience, we certainly have a winning formula.
