As the Tesco 99 Octane BTRDA Rally series nears its halfway point, Ginetta G20 GTR pairing Marcel Freling and Karen Robinson find themselves leading Class A5 in their unique rear wheel-drive sportscar.
With 2007 earmarked as a development year, Freling is understandably pleased with how the car has progressed but is under no illusions that there is still work to be done. Last time out on the Somerset Stages, he and co-driver Robinson encountered minor dust problems, though the Ginetta test-driver is confident those have now been resolved.
The duo ultimately took to the finishing ramp third in class and 45th overall out of the 63 finishers, having comfortably set top six class times throughout the day.
“The Somerset Stages went fairly well,” Freling remarked. “We had a timing discrepancy on one stage which probably cost us a few positions, but on the whole the rally went alright.
“We had some dust issues but I think we've sorted them now. Both Karen and I really enjoy the roads above Swansea, so we are looking forward to the Red Dragon.”
The 2007 Pro Art Signs Red Dragon Rally takes place on Saturday, 19 May with the cars tackling some famous Wales Rally GB stages including Rheola, Resolven and the ever-popular Walters Arena.
