Nick Kenny and co-driver, George Gwynn enjoyed the return to gravel on the International Rally Yorkshire last weekend and in the end finished seventh overall in the Tesco 99 Octane MSA British Rally Championship standings.

Kenny only had the briefest of shakedowns earlier in the week but despite this the pair were happy with their pace on an event that is notorious for long, power sapping straights.

Furthermore had it not been for a puncture on the opening stage they could well have finished even higher up the leader-board.

The preparations for the K-motion backed pairing, the youngest partnership in the championship, began with a very positive recce and after suffering a series of niggling mechanical dramas on the previous round, the Ulster International, the Geoff Jones Motorsport-run Subaru Impreza N12 ran faultlessly throughout the rally.

“We had a good run this weekend and we are both pleased with how the recce went,” said Kenny. “The puncture cost us a bit of time and we were loosing out on the straights compared to some of the cars which were geared higher, but all in all it was a very productive day for us.”

Kenny and Gwynn now have a bit of a break before they head to the final round, Wales Rally GB, which runs from November 30 to December 2.
