Hundreds of historic rallying fans attended the Historic Rally Car Register's fourth Open Day at the Heritage Motor Centre at Gaydon on Saturday.
Now firmly established on the calendar as the kick off point for the forthcoming historic rallying season, the Open Day featured stands from the HRCR championships, many event organisers and a range of trade exhibitors.
Outside, in addition to a display of historic rally cars, over 40 cars took part in a series of demonstration special tests, re-creating the type of test found on daytime historic road rallies.
Full details of the ever-growing range of HRCR activities were available: the Dunlop/Gambia MSA British Historic Rally Championship, the new Historic Stage Rally Challenge, the Motoscope HRCR Northern Historic Stage Rally Championship, the Clubmans Rally Championship, the Road Rally Championship, the new 100 Rally Series, Newcomers Rally Schools and UK Scenic Tours.
On show for the first time at the Open Day was the Isle of Man Historic Rally, and Richard Bargery from the event organising team was thrilled with the response.
"The response has been far greater than we expected. We've spoken to many prospective competitors and we've also had some marshalling teams asking about the event," said Bargery. "We'll come back with a bigger display next year!"
