David Higgins believes that Nick Rowland has the potential to shine this year in the inaugural Suzuki Swift Sport Cup.
Rowland, who will make his debut in the 2008 Tesco 99 Octane MSA British Rally Championship, will compete with Higgins' new rally team, the TQ-FX Motor Sports team, which was launched earlier this month at the
Autosport International Show in Birmingham.
Higgins told
Crash.net Radio recently that the 18-year-old has a great chance to prove his worth and that his outings in the Chinese Rally Championship will also be of benefit.
He added though that the pressure is definitely on him in the BRC, as he is one of the favourites to take the honours in the Suzuki Cup.
"Nick has got an awful lot of potential as a driver and he has got a good programme [for 2008]," said David. "Obviously he is doing the one-make Suzuki Swift Sport Cup in the BRC, but he is also running in China. He is going to use Hugh [Evans]'s old Mitsubishi for the Chinese championship
"He is in a fantastic situation too where he can concentrate 100 per cent on his rallying. He has got no school, no job - nothing to interfere with his programme. He has got some good backing behind him as well and so now it just really comes down to Nick to see how much he wants it.
"If he is up there winning - and there is no reason why he can't win. He has got the same car as everybody else. He has got good practice between the events and he can learn as much as he wants from me.
"There is nothing stopping him from winning the championship - it is all down to him. It will be interesting to see how he turns that one around."
