"I will be using an Evo 9 [in China] and that will mean I will be able to practice driving a four-wheel drive car in my own time without the pressure of doing it in Britain," he added. "China is just going to be a massive, massive learning curve and I don't think there is a huge amount expected of me there.
"I am just going to get my head down and practice and get use to working in a big team."
Asked specifically what areas he is going to be working on this season, Nick added that he doesn't intend to leave any stone unturned.
"Generally I am just working on everything - on the overall speed and 'the package'. We know now that drivers can't just be fast. They need to be good at everything. I want to work on every area, all the time. I have decided not to go to University so I can just focus on trying to make a good job of this. I have got plenty of time on my side. I think I am quite lucky too because with two programmes I can split them up and have two different goals," he concluded.
