David Higgins has said that he will have only one target in mind this year in the Tesco 99 Octane MSA British Rally Championship and that is to reclaim the crown he won in 2004.
Higgins, who launched his own three-car team back in January, will compete in one of their FX Motor Sports-run Subaru Impreza N14s and with the new season getting underway next month on the Pirelli International, the Brit is keen to get out and show what they can do.
"It's going to be an exciting year for us. It's been four years since I won the British title, and it's time I got it back," he wrote in his first exclusive column on
Crash.net.
"Myself and my co-driver Ieuan Thomas will have that aim in mind. Over the next few weeks our new Subarus will arrive, we'll get testing and it is all systems go for the 2008 British Rally Championship. This year is going to be one of the most exciting of my career."
His focus though won't only be on the BRC, as the 2002 and 2003 SCCA Pro Rally America champion will also be competing in the Chinese Rally championship again too in a WY Rally Team Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9.
"We should have already started the season out there actually, but because of the Olympics being held in China this year the calendar has had to be shuffled around quite a bit," he added.
"But when it does get started we've got a reputation to uphold - last year we won every round and nobody had ever done that before. It was a great feeling, most of the events went to plan and on the final round we were the top finishers in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge section of the event too."
