Rising rally driver Elfyn Evans recorded his best result ever at the weekend with a resounding win in the FiestaSporting Trophy, an impressive third place overall in the Severn Valley Clubmans Rally and a class win.
His impressive drive in the hustings.com Fiesta now also puts the 19-year-old at the head of the leaderboard in the FiestaSporting Trophy in the UK, adding to his success in the Irish series, which he also leads.
"I am absolutely delighted with the win, we are now leading both the UK and Irish championships at the mid-point of the season, which is something the team is really pleased with," said Elfyn, who was once again co-driven by Gareth Roberts.
"The rally today was great and to finish third overall as well as taking the Fiesta win was amazing.
"We had a puncture on the third stage and that nearly put us off the road at one point but thankfully we had already built up a strong lead.
"We focused on driving a smooth and tidy rally and the many hours we spent watching the DVD of the stages to fine tune our notes really paid off this weekend and we were extremely well prepared.
"As ever, it was a close fought battle, but, all in all, it was a great end to my local event."
Elfyn's impressive speed was also rewarded with the hard charger award and maximum points in the ANCRO junior category.
"It has been an eventful weekend on what is effectively our home event," continued team boss and former British Rally Champion Gwyndaf Evans.
"Both the team's drivers have been attracting a huge amount of interest for their outright speed on this classic Welsh rally which is tremendous for their futures – and to have a win with Elfyn was the icing on the cake."
Team-mate Meilyr Evans meanwhile finished a creditable fifth in the Fiestas having recorded a string of top times. He was fastest Fiesta on the longest stage of the day in Radnor but had mixed fortunes with an excursion into the scenery and a stalled engine denying him a podium finish.
