Stockport daughter and father rally crew Jayne and David Auden finished 61st overall on a tough Quinton Stages Rally on Saturday.
In their David Auden and Associates Insurance Brokers-backed 1400cc MG ZR, the pair came home 18th in the 1400 section and fourth in class 1.4L on the Llandovery-based forest gravel event despite losing some time early on.
On stage three they left the road following a 90 right bend and ended up stuck in a ditch for nearly a minute, but with the help of some spectators they managed to get back onto the course and continue.
Following on from that, the pair managed to post their best stage time of the day on the fourth test when they were 65th equal.
The afternoon was then blighted by downpours of rain, making the stages slippery and tricky, but the Audens posted a steady performance to come home and collect more points in the ANWCC (Association of North Western Car Clubs) championship that they are contesting this season.
The Quinton was certainly an experience, said 26-year-old driver Jayne. It was dry in the morning and I just drove steady and then we had the incident on stage three which lost us a fair amount of time but it was just one of those things where we lost control on the corner and ended up in the scenery.
I'm pleased to have finished but I was off the pace all day. The stages were good fun, so fast and flowing, it was just a shame I wasn't on it.
Jayne is seventh overall in the ANWCC drivers' table whilst David is ninth in the co-drivers' standings. The pair lead class A and the front-wheel drive points.
The Audens will next be in action on the Ludlow-based Woodpecker Stages Rally on Saturday August 30.
