Citroen C2R2 Cup front runner Andrew Hockridge will raise money for the local Hospice in the week leading up to the forthcoming Rally Isle of Man, when he joins forces with one of his biggest customers from Douglas by offering rally rides to lucky prize winners.
Hockridge, along with his father Gareth, will be making available both themselves and their cars to take six lucky prize winners for a high speed passenger ride around the pre-event shakedown stage on Wednesday July 16.
People wishing to enter can do so by purchasing a ticket from any of the six hospice shops or from Agrimark Ltd.
Anyone entering will be contacted by telephone on Tuesday evening and
must be available on Wednesday evening to take this opportunity of a lifetime.
This offer is only open to people over the age of 16.
“Earlier this year I contested the RBS Manx International Rally, as a test for this weekend. Whilst I was on the island I got talking to Billy Kewley from Agrimark, whom I do business with,” Hockridge explained.
“Billy does a great deal for the local Hospice and was telling me that it costs over three million pounds a year to run the hospice, most of which is raised through donations.
“This then gave us the idea to do our little bit and try and put something back into the local community.”
Hockridge, who currently lies third in the C2R2 Cup in his Gino's Pizza Cheese and GRH Foods-backed pocket rocket, will be joined on the rally by his father, Gareth.
Gareth will be contesting the Trophy Rally, which follows behind the main event, in a Geoff Jones Motorsport-run Subaru Impreza N10 and whilst it will be the first time he has contested the rally, he is eagerly looking forward to the challenge.
“I was over here in May looking after Andrew and just loved everything about the island,” added Gareth. “So I decided that I deserved a bit of a treat myself. We might be competing in different rallies but I'll still be comparing our times, so hope the youngster doesn't beat me by too much!”
