Rally UK » Morrow: I want to do a good job on Manx.

Monday, 14th July 2008

Mitsubishi's Phillip Morrow will be out to make amends on the Rally Isle of Man after his error on SS1 of the Jim Clark.

Mitsubishi's Phillip Morrow has said that he is going to take a strategic approach to the Rally Isle of Man, the latest round in the 2008 Tesco 99 Octane MSA British Rally Championship.

Morrow, who won his drive with the 'works' Mitsubishi UK team this year following his success in the 2007 Mitsubishi Evo Challenge, started the season promisingly with a fourth place finish on the Pirelli. However the Jim Clark was a disaster when he clipped a bank on the opening stage and rolled his Lancer Evo IX three times.

The Ulsterman now wants to put that behind him and following a successful test last week in his repaired machine, he can't wait for this week's event.

"I really want to get out there and do a good job for the team - and for my own confidence as well," stated Morrow, who as normal will be partnered by Daniel Barritt.

"The Isle of Man is a notoriously difficult rally, so I am going to approach it with that in mind and, if things feel right, then I will start to up the pace a bit."

Mitsubishi UK Motorsport boss and Ralliart general manager Paul Brigden meanwhile is looking forward to seeing his team back in action and after getting a one-two finish with Guy Wilks and Gwyndaf Evans in 2007, a repeat now would be well timed.

"The best way to put challenging times behind you is to go out there and do well," added Brigden.

"Our target this weekend then is to get both cars to the finish in strong positions and, by doing so, we can reignite our bid to retain the team's and drivers titles."

The Cirencester-based outfit currently has 48 points on the board - 17 points less than the leaders, TEG Sport, while Wilks and Morrow are sixth and ninth in the drivers' standings with 20 and 15 points respectively.
