The organisers of the Pendragon Stages Rally have announced that due to extremely wet ground conditions there will be no spectator access into the Lowther Park stage of the event this coming weekend.

"The decision has been forced to be made on the grounds of health and safety with very little option to the organising committee," read a statement to the press.

"The organisers ask that spectators co-operate as there is no parking in either Lowther Park or on the roadsides and police will be in attendance."

"We're very disappointed that we've had to make this decision but I'm sure everyone will understand that it's in the safety interests of spectators and those involved with the rally," added clerk of the course Tim Foster.

"People can still get close to the cars at the ramp in Penrith town centre and everyone is very welcome to come and watch there. We ask that spectators kindly respect this decision."

Cars will visit the ramp for a 'chat' with the commentator en-route to stages in the morning starting at around 11.50am on Sunday August 24 and finish there in the afternoon at around 5.18pm.
