Fitness will be important in Turkey, as Istanbul Park runs anti-clockwise. It's going to work different muscles as we have to turn left more often than we would do normally, but I don't think it's going to be a big problem as I like to get to the gym as much as possible to maintain my fitness level. I'm usually out on my bike or running, as it's important to be doing something every day, and it all helps when you get to the track and start hustling a race car around. We're expecting warm weather this weekend, so the heat wave we had back in England before I left actually made for some pretty accurate training conditions.
I'm always working on increasing my fitness level and I believe, long-term, it's a good plan to have as you never know when you'll be called to step up to a more powerful car. You want to be ready when that opportunity comes, so I keep pushing myself. Being fit pays off and there's just no debating that at this level of competition.
I'm enjoying racing for Team KTR, we all get along well and, more importantly, we're all speaking the same language when it comes to the car. We're at the stage now that, looking at the next few races, we know we're visiting tracks that should suit us therefore we're hoping to be more competitive than we have been over the first two rounds. I'm also back in a team situation now, where I have a team-mate, Sean McIntosh, and we're able to share data. It's always handy to be able to do this although, sometimes, you're left scratching your head as you compare notes. But, whether your team-mate's quicker or slower than you, it's at least good to be able to discuss the car's set-up and see where you can improve in each sector.
