Kerr's World: Riding the rollercoaster.

Friday, 4th August 2006

It's not really much of a comfort knowing I wasn't to blame, as the end result is still the same.

I arrive in Germany this week ahead of round six of the World Series by Renault off the back of another rollercoaster weekend at Spa!

It was great to be back there racing in Belgium, not least as my team, KTR, are based there, but also because it's just an amazing track. Unfortunately for me, once again, I was collected in the first race, but things proved to be a little more encouraging with a ninth place finish in the second race - not a bad result considering I'd started down in 20th!

Heading into Spa, I'd unfortunately had the pleasure of being hit in three out of the previous four starts from our races in Istanbul and Misano. Needless to say, it was pretty frustrating being hit by Patrick Pilet last Friday at Spa especially as, in all cases of late, I was the innocent victim.

It's not really much of a comfort knowing I wasn't to blame, as the end result is still the same. I've lost serious ground to the guys leading the championship with fewer chances remaining to improve my standing. I've always been confident in myself and I know I can run at the front of these races but, to be honest, there's not much you can do in the type of racing incidents I've been caught up in. I can only concentrate on racing my car and getting the best from it, I can't control what the person behind me does.

If nothing else, the WSbR events have been a little more exciting of late as we're going through a fairly concentrated section of the schedule. I think, as a result of that - and we'll see it again at the Nurburgring this weekend - everyone's more comfortable with their cars and performances are improving as we're all a little more dialled in.
