Speeding in the pit lane costs Alvaro Parente pole position

Comment on this Story
Alvaro Parente has had his pole position in the latest round of the World Series by Renault taken away from him after he was judged to have sped in the pit lane.

Although a disappointment for his home fans, who have come out in force to the see the Portuguese driver at the Estoril circuit, Parente will nonetheless not have to move far as his second fastest lap was still good enough for fourth on the grid.

Even so, his demotion places him just behind chief title rival Ben Hanley on the grid, the Brit moving up from fourth to third.

It was not all bad news for Parente's Tech 1 Racing squad though as it means his team-mate Julie Jousse will start from his first ever pole position, while Miguel Molina completes a different looking front row by securing his best ever starting place in second place.
