Miguel Molina celebrates victory at Estoril - but wants to win in Spain too.

Miguel Molina has set his sights on repeating his breakthrough win at Estoril when the World Series by Renault heads to the final round of the season at his home circuit of Barcelona.

The Spaniard, who hails from the area and carries sponsorship from the Circuit di Catalunya where the final round will be held, scored a point there last year for the unheralded GD Racing team in one of his first races for the squad.

Roll on twelve months and the 18-year-old can now call himself a winner after storming to victory at the Portuguese circuit for the Spanish Pons Racing team. Getting a good start from second on the grid, Molina simply romped away from there to cross the line ten seconds up on Julien Jousse.

Already one of the youngest drivers on the grid, Molina was delighted to already be classed as a winner, particularly as his strongest race of the year is yet to come.

“I managed to get past Julien at the start and open up quite a big gap in the space of a few laps. From then on it was a case of trying to keep that advantage… It means a lot to me to have won a race in this championship, because there are a lot of experienced drivers in the field. Hopefully I can do the same again at Barcelona.”
