With the opening test session of the new World Series by Renault season drawing ever closer, vacant seats continue to be filled, with Epsilon Euskadi and Pons Racing among the latest to confirm drivers.

According to reports, the Basque team has opted for the youthful combination of Brazilian Mario Romancini and little-known French driver Alexandre Marsoin, while Pons has inked sometime GP2 racer Marcos Martinez to its line-up.

Romancini may only be 20, but already shown promise in both the Sud-Am F3 and Italian F3000 series, where he proved to be a race winner and regular podium visitor, while Marsoin graduates from the two-litre Formula Renault category after finishing third in last season's French national championship.

Martinez, meanwhile, has signed for Pons after seeing his GP2 options dry up in recent weeks. The Spaniard endured a fraught baptism in the F1 feeder series last season, becoming Racing Engineering's final selection after Sergio Jiminez, Ernesto Viso and Filipe Albuquerque had all taken turns alongside regular Javi Villa. He failed to qualify at his first meeting, but improved with each outing, scoring five points by the end of the year.

However, with Alfonso d'Orleans Borbon's team snapping up GP2 veteran Giorgio Pantano to partner Villa in 2008, Martinez found his options somewhat limited and turned his attention to the World Series, culminating in a berth at Sito Pons' team.

The World Series campaign begins in earnest with a group test at Valencia's Circuit Ricardo Tormo over 5-6 March.
