Wednesday, 4th June 2008

Having won at Donington Park last year, James Walker is keen to do it again on British soil at Silverstone this year.

James Walker is targeting a repeat winning performance on home soil as the World Series by Renault moves to Silverstone for rounds six and seven.

Walker scored both his and Fortec Motorsport's maiden win at Donington Park last season, in front of a huge home crowd and while the venue may be different this year, the Jerseyman is still chasing the same result.

Indeed, a good performance would go some way to helping James Walker into the top ten of the standings having scored in three of the first five rounds.

“Silverstone is a challenging track,” he said. “It is a technical circuit but also physically hard due to some high speed corners. I love racing there as there is always an incredible atmosphere. The World Series events are always very well-attended so I expect there will be a fantastic buzz at Silverstone this weekend.

Also the home round for his team, Walker is anticipating receiving good support from the anticipated 120,000 strong crowd, as well as a number of people travelling up from Jersey.

"I've never been more ready to win. Everyone has been working so hard this year and I can feel it all coming together, so I'm hoping Silverstone can be as special as Donington was a year ago.

“I want to come away from Silverstone with a much improved championship position. Again I have a lot of support coming over from Jersey; I want to put on a good show for the home fans and I can't wait to see how it all pans out!"
