Two consistent finishes marked Duncan Tappy's highlights on his World Series by Renault debut.

Duncan Tappy has decided to file his World Series by Renault debut under educational after a tough debut for RC Motorsport at his home round of Silverstone.

Having never driven the new car before this round, Tappy had to ascend a steep learning curve over the course of the weekend but showed plenty of promise in the first race when he battled his way up to 16th from 24th on the grid.

Indeed, he was content with that result, particularly as it involved him pulling off a handful of overtaking manoeuvres and saw him post consistent lap times.

“In race one I got a fantastic start and then lost the places at Becketts but just kept my foot in when there was an accident and I found a gap to make back those places and more. If I hadn't had quite so much under-steer I'd have passed Romancini earlier but I got him in the end. It was a good battle.”

However, despite starting 17th for the second race, Tappy struggled as faster drivers came back through the field, dropping to him to what was an eventual 21st place finish.

Admitting to suffering with the physical rigours of the faster machinery, the reigning Formula Renault UK Champion nonetheless believes that he can make swift progress as the rest of the season approaches.

“The second race wasn't as good and it's disappointing to go backwards. It's been a solid weekend and the whole thing was great from the learning point of view. It's physically very tough but I'll have that sorted for the next race now that I know where the pressures are. I've learnt a huge amount and can't wait for Hungary to learn more.”
