Red Devil Team Comtec has announced the signing of young Briton Max Chilton for the upcoming Renault World Series tests at Paul Ricard and Valencia.

The teenager will head to the tests on the back of his first full season of single-seater action with the Hitech British F3 team, where Chilton finished the season tenth in the championship standings.

“Now this year's British Formula Three Championship is behind me, I can focus fully on these upcoming WSR tests with Comtec Racing. Physically, it won't be too easy but I have been training hard for these tests. I am particularly looking forward to the experience of having the extra power and to driving again on European circuits. I would like to thank Red Devil Comtec Racing for the interest they have shown in me and hope to repay them with positive results.”

Martin Donnelly, sporting director of the Comtec team, was also pleased to be able to make the announcement that Chilton will take part in the test.

“Red Devil Team Comtec has been watching Max's performances in this season's highly competitive British Formula Three Championship and has been very impressed with his turn of speed at the tender age of 17 and also with the maturity he has displayed under the high intensity of the series,” he said. “Testing with our World Series 3.5 team will give Max some invaluable insight into the world of a modern day single-seater car with F1 style paddle-shift gears and carbon brakes.

“The test will also allow Max to experience the increased levels of cornering g-forces, especially at Paul Ricard where his body will consistently go through 3.0G – 3.5G through Signes and Le Beausset. These tests will be of tremendous benefit to Max's learning curve as a driver as he progresses through the echelons of Motorsport in his ultimate goal of reaching Formula One.”
