Five weeks on from the washout at Shenington the BRDC Stars of Tomorrow Karting Championship roared back into life at the Summerlee International Raceway in Larkhall with the series enjoying considerably better raceday weather on its annual trip north of the border.
At 854 metres long for the direct drive classes and just 755 for the Super ICC runners Larkhall is the shortest venue on the 2007 calendar yet traditionally one of the most popular with the drivers with its fast and frantic layout giving them no respite on a lap where overtaking opportunities were limited, and risky.

With numbers still well in excess of 40, six heats were needed to decide who qualified for the A and B finals and as usual there proved to be a long list of potential winners as five different heat winners would attest.
First blood went to Hazz Truelove in heat one after a tense three kart duel with Joe Byrne and Alex Gill although Alex Albon (fourth), Roy Johnson (sixth) and Jake Dalton (seventh) all served notice of their potential from lowly starting positions. Also worthy of note was local talent Martin Millar, looking extremely comfortable on home turf and finishing a highly creditable ninth.
Truelove found himself quickly lining back up on the dummy grid for heat two, albeit on the eleventh row this time but the quick turnaround hadn’t affected his pace as he quickly set about scything his way towards the front.
From grid 15 Jacob Stilp had a slight head start on Truelove and used his superior track position to stay ahead and take the win although Truelove was just three tenths of a second behind at the chequered flag with tenacious trio James Appleton, Alex Walker and the impressive Byrne all within a second of the winner.
There was less good fortune for local lad Robbie Dalgleish however as the driver sitting fifth in the points had his chain part company whilst comfortably sitting in the lead group.
