Co-ordinator's Report: Genk.

Tuesday, 14th August 2007

BRDC Stars of Tomorrow co-ordinator Debbie Sellers takes a glance back over the exciting sixth and seventh rounds of the 2007 campaign at Genk in Belgium.

BRDC Stars of Tomorrow co-ordinator Debbie Sellers reports on rounds six and seven of the 2007 series at Genk in Belgium, and looks forward to the final meeting at Three Sisters near Wigan at the start of next month.

What a scorcher we had at Genk! After a wet practice day, three days of bright sunshine sent the temperature soaring.

Thank you to all the officials at Genk for a fabulous weekend. The circuit was at its best – a gruelling test of endurance for all competitors. We hope you all enjoyed the change of scenery and had a good journey back home.

It was a shame the BRDC race control centre couldn’t be there as it exceeds the height restrictions to travel on Belgian roads, but it will be there at Wigan for the final two rounds. Alas that may be the last time we will operate from our beloved truck, as there are major concerns over its roadworthy condition.

Carolynn is hoping to do a sponsored walk/bike ride at the end of September to try and raise money for a replacement. We hope some of you will accompany her on parts of her journey that will cover the circuits we have visited this year. Tell your local newspaper/radio station and get some promotional work in for yourself at the same time.

The protest against MSA Cadet driver #7 has been withdrawn, so the cadet trophy presentation for round six will go ahead at Wigan. The protest against Super ICC driver #20 was lost so their trophy presentations for round seven will also be held at Wigan.

It seems there have been a few grumblings that the same few people appear on the website all the time. Those few people are the ones who take the time and effort to promote themselves. The championship encourages competitors to forward any news or reviews to us. The information is then processed and formatted for the website.
