European KF3 karting champion Jack Harvey has moved up a gear in his fledgling motorsport career, by signing up as an official factory driver for Birel Motorsport as he gets set to launch an all-out assault on British and international KF2 honours in 2008.
The former BRDC Stars of Tomorrow front-runner has thoroughly dominated the JICA/KF3 European scene this year, in so doing becoming the hottest property on the driver market. Following a test at his home circuit of PF International in Lincolnshire, he has chosen to switch across from Maranello to fellow Italian marque Birel the biggest kart chassis manufacturer in the world for his move into the senior class next season, and he is clearly champing at the bit ahead of his new challenge.
I'm pleased to have signed for Birel and have everything in place for next season and beyond before Christmas, the Bassingham ace enthused. Since winning the European title at Sarno at the beginning of September we've been contacted by several teams about 2008, and to have a long-term plan in place means I will be able to try and carry on my winning streak into the senior category next year.
I've had an incredible year in 2007 with Maranello, and want to thank them for all of their support and our success throughout this year. However, I want to continue pushing through every stage of my career and I believe Birel can offer me the best chance possible to take more victories next year and onto my eventual goal of becoming the youngest-ever K
F1 world champion. I can't wait to start testing the KF2 chassis!
