KF3 king switches teams for next year - with his focus firmly on repeating his 2007 success at senior level.

With plenty of work to do in the pre-final, Jack had the added pressure of having to gamble on tyre choice as drizzle covered the circuit in the build-up to the race. With the sun initially shining he opted for slicks, but a subsequent delay to the start of the race allowed the heavens to open once again, and as proceedings got underway he knew he would struggle against his rivals out there on wet-weather rubber.

Another opening corner tap put Jack onto the grass and down to the very back of the field once again, but proving his pace as the quickest slick-shod driver on the circuit he would work his way back up to eleventh place at the close. From the same position on the grid for the all-important grand final, a blistering start saw him up into sixth by the first turn and through to the lead by the end of lap five.

Despite making short work of his rivals to reach the front, however, he didn't have the outright speed to pull away, and when on lap nine he felt the chasing pack pushing him along the start-finish straight he knew he would have his work cut out over the remainder of the race. With just three laps to go he dropped down to third, but his renowned talent for immediately going on the attack proved to be the best course of action as he grabbed the lead back again only a lap later – and would hold it this time all the way to the chequered flag.

“I'm really pleased to have taken that win,” Jack smiled afterwards. “I was happy with my drive on slicks in the wet as it's the first time I've raced like that for a long time and I was the fastest in that half of the grid. It's shown I can come back and take victory from a long way back and in all conditions, and it was good to take a win as outgoing champion too.”
