Where Holden has two super-strong outfits for 2007, Ford has several. Ford Performance Racing, Triple Eight Race Engineering and Stone Brothers Racing have all been competitive this year, with potential from Dick Johnson Racing also being shown in championship 2006.
The introduction of a new spending cap from teams is a step in the right direction to reduce spiralling costs in the series. Teams such as the Holden Racing Team, Toll HSV Dealer Team, Ford Performance Racing, Triple Eight and Stone Brothers Racing are all known to spend in excess of ten million dollars per annum. A new points system will also reward racing for wins, something that should see the likes of Lowndes, Tander and Skaife, this year?s title favourites, contest next year?s title.
Rick Kelly will almost certainly retain his 2006 championship and the number one place for 2007, however all eyes will be on his 2007 performance now that consistency is set to be rewarded less and winning rounds, the only box that Kelly didn?t tick during his 2006 campaign, will be rewarded more.
