Drivers in this weekend’s Clipsal 500 Adelaide, although probably awoken by some stage by the brief thunderstorms on Friday night, will be thanking their lucky stars for the cooler change that has graced the City of Churches for the third day of the Clipsal 500 Adelaide.
Notorious for exceedingly high temperatures throughout the course of the weekend, the Clipsal 500 is usually the toughest event of the year, with hot in-car conditions testing drivers for a large amount of their two 250 kilometre races.
However with an estimated high of twenty-eight degrees and a partially cloudy day, today’s forecast will definitely be welcomed by all the drivers concerned, especially given a searing day of thirty-eight degrees for Qualifying on Friday.
The news gets better for Sunday, with a maximum of twenty-four with showers projected – throwing up an interesting scenario, given that a wet race has never truly occurred on the streets of Adelaide.
James Courtney has pole for this afternoon's race, with Jamie Whincup alongside him on the grid.
Both races will be held at 2.30 Adelaide time across the next two days. The Seven Network will broadcast both races live in their entirety to South Australian viewers.
