Race reactions: Eastern Creek – Race 2 and 3.

Monday, 11th June 2007

“It’s been a humbling experience to pass Peter Brock, particularly while in our new car designated ‘VE 05’ – very spooky stuff! Today was fantastic and it was great to do a solid job." - Mark Skaife.

Steven Johnson – Jim Beam Racing

“We made some progress during the weekend but we really didn’t make the gains we had hoped. It was hard work to stay in the top 10. The car was lacking some speed and even with new tyres it didn’t seem to make much difference. I managed to finish each of the races unscathed and still gained some championship points, so we are definitely still up there. If we continue to be consistent and gain points, we will still be well up there at the end of the year.”

Russell Ingall – Stone Brothers Racing/Caltex

“We’re there roundabout but we’re not happy to just circulate around in tenth or eleventh; I’d much rather be at the pointy end giving the guys up there some curry,” said Ingall. We had a bit of car speed this weekend but some of our strategy didn’t come off for us. Eastern Creek is a difficult circuit to pass on even though it is fast and flowing; it’s very much one line. We didn’t make many inroads today. We’re disappointed that we couldn’t build on the progress from yesterday. On a positive note, we grabbed some points from a tough weekend to maintain ninth position in the championship.”
