Bright was to suffer more. Even for the very slightest of touches he had on the back of the WPS car he was issued with a drive-through penalty meaning his, and Holden's championship hopes were thrown right out of the window. Bright's touch was in the hardest braking zone in the V8 Supercar Series and cannot have been judged malicious, but the PWR had to take to pitlane nevertheless.
On the restart Ambrose kept it clean and was soon making off into the distance again, whilst the challenging season for HRT continuing with Skaife being collected by an incident between Paul Weel and Max Wilson and the Holden driver was pitched into a half-spin coming out of the hairpin and retiring from the race with the resultant damage.
Without the added spice of incoming rain as occurred on Saturday the run to the chequered flag was pretty well disciplined and there was far from the amount of action and overtaking seen on Saturday.
Ambrose was a very happy man in pitlane after the race, now with 1982 points from second in the championship, Greg Murphy. Just had a great car, I'm so excited we're close to another championship, said the beaming Tasmanian, who only has to finish in the top twelve in the final race at Symmons Plains to take his title..
