When Bright eventually stopped, it soon became Ambrose from Lowndes once more, with Bright returning to the track and into third spot.
Confirming the speed of the WPS Besnard car, the Symmons Plains race winner was in fourth place after the stops, whilst Kmart Racing's Rick Kelly had worked it well through the field and into fifth, ahead of Paul Radisich.
Behind the #88 Kiwi was Russell Ingall, charging as hard as ever, but unable to make his way past the TKR headed Gold Coast resident. Talking of Kiwis, where was Murph? With six laps to go he was just outside the top ten, not having worked through the field as well as his younger team-mate.
The latter laps of the race were well behaved after an satisfactory amount of contact in the early stages of the race. Rick Kelly's car was not as fast as the cars ahead, nor those behind, but he steered a very wide ship to keep the far more experienced Radisich behind him, whilst Ingall looked on, in turn (and in turns) well aware of Richards behind him.
Ambrose by this time was a country mile to the good, over twelve seconds ahead of Lowndes with mere shrapnel of laps to go.
Ambrose took the chequered flag to a crowd of very happy Ford fans. With the title in the bag he can really go for it tomorrow, and with Saturday's performance Holden fans better stay home.
