"Tim came on the phone saying I thought in the shower this morning that we ought to do something together for the end of the year," explains Stoddart, before quipping, "so you can make of that what you want!"
So what did Stoddart make of his brief visit to see the V8s and is it a place he can see himself splashing some further cash in the future. Paul Stoddart V8 Supercar team owner would be quite something after all. "It's a bit of a trip down memory lane and I think it can go on to some interesting things," he says. "Certainly the touring cars as I remember them in years gone by they've lost none of their magic and it's an incredibly people popular series so we should stay involved I think."
Stoddart flew a number of journalists and team members from Melbourne with his new OzJet airline, also had a sit behind the wheel of the Flacon.
"The car looks great, it's a perfect colour scheme for OzJet as it's got our colours on it. It's good for Ford as well and I think that, and it already has been, a success as far as we're concerned," he said. "We gave the boys a chance to sample our product on the plane and they were pretty impressed with that and we're pretty impressed with the car so lets hope it continues."
