There appear to be few dark horses to challenge this weekend, however Russell Ingall may pull a surprise in the Caltex Falcon. The beleaguered Stone Brothers Racing hasn’t stood out in 2006, but Ingall has experienced previous success at Hidden Valley which keeps him in stead to challenge this weekend.
“Hidden Valley would be one of the top three races on the calendar in terms of popularity. The event gets many visitors and motor sport fans from interstate. It’s also one of the few events where a lot of the drivers stay on at the end of the event to take in the sights of the territory,” said Ingall.
“As far as on track performance goes, last year we had a hiccup with the starter motor failing at the start of the race three when we had the Caltex Racing Falcon on the front row. It possibly cost us the round win.
“In saying that, I have had many race wins at Hidden Valley so I can’t see any reason why we can’t be at the front this weekend. After a pretty average Winton race, this one is especially important for SBR. It’s one that we need to win to get us back out in front in the championship.”
