Mark Porter [M-Sport Racing]
“We have been pretty quick all year, practising and qualifying in first or second. It's always good to be in front. With the red flags and a fair bit of oil on the track, it's good to get through with the car unscathed. It's been on pay-day that we have let ourselves down. I have made a mistake in the first race of both of the first two rounds and we have had to play catch-up from there. The first race tomorrow will be important for us."
Adam Macrow [Howard Racing]
“It’s been a fairly solid effort today, we’ve just been trying a few things and working hard on improving the balance of the car and tuning it to the track. It wasn’t necessary to make any major changes across the two sessions as the car was working fairly well straight out of the truck, we recently tested here also which of course proved beneficial. The major factor that will determine who lays down the quickest laps in tomorrow’s qualifying will be tyres, it’s difficult to tell what kind of condition everyone’s rubber is in and it should show tomorrow. We’re on track, we’ve got a great setup and I believe the car is definitely going to be a contender for pole.”
Andrew Thompson [Latitude Developments]
"Today felt pretty good, we've made some definite improvements. Testing last week was great and this practice session gave me a chance to put what I've learnt into action. There's so many cars in this category, but I finally I managed to get a clear lap and do a reasonably good time.”
Marcus La Delle [First Rock Home Loans]
"It was great to get back in the car, and last week's test was undeniably invaluable. I was in the groove for the test and got back into the car today, and straight back into that groove. Top five pace is fantastic, and I've got to say the car is even better since the rebuild, we made some positive changes. Our biggest challenge lies ahead, we've still got to put new tyres on the car and I've only been on new tyres twice before!"
Chris Pither [Kanga Loaders Racing]
"After the red flag in the second session I managed to get a few clear laps.”
David Clark [Optima Sport]
“Overall I’m pretty happy and today’s two sessions which have provided us with a good base to start the weekend with. We put a set of new tyres on near the start of the session which gave us a good idea of what to expect of the car during qualifying, but what was even more encouraging was the fact that I set my fastest time on my final flying lap when the tyres were far from new. The car seems to be very fast during the first sector, which includes the fast turn one and two, but we’re still struggling a little to get the power to the ground on the exit of the tighter turns.”
Michael Caruso [Decina Racing]
“The entire team dug in for two and a half hours adjusting the set up of the Decina Falcon and the changes were rewarded with some competitive times set during the second session. Even still I know there’s improvement in the car which is a great sign. I’m happy where we finished up. I’d rather be working up the order than down it so ninth gives us something to work from. It’s been a magnificent job from all the guys to get us up towards the pointy end and we’ll look to continue the roll on during qualifying and all three races.”
