Garth Tander [Toll HSV Dealer Team]
“It was a disappointing weekend. We picked up a few points in the end, but we just have to forget about Oran Park now and concentrate on our next two races.
Brad Jones [Team BOC]
“Fantastic! What more can I say. We were able to stay out of all the carnage early in that race and then hold our position in the top ten. After such a tough day yesterday and this morning, it’s great to get a result for the team in the last race. The guys in the team have put in such a great effort this year and it’s good to be able to reward them with a good finish. The car is still not great and it would have been good to have been able to fight a bit more at the end of that race. Having said that though; a top ten result, with John not to far behind, is great for the team heading into the endurance races at Sandown and Bathurst.”
Mark Skaife [Holden Racing Team]
“We had gone from 23rd to 3rd when I spun on Whincup’s oil, and that was the end of that. There was no warning at all. We got back on the track in about 14th placing and there was a battle with the Valvoline cars and Mark Winterbottom and they were all running into each other. (I was) in the wrong place at the wrong time, the wheels hit, and it just tore the steering out of my hands and bent the steering and caster arm. For two meetings in a row the car has been fantastic. When you can come from last and win a race, it shows what the car speed is like. Yesterday when we led by so much and were doing it easy, it shows the sort of weekend we should have had. It should have been an easy three win weekend.”
Fabian Coulthard [Team Sirromet Wines]
“The ‘Reverse Grid’ race was good. I had a fast start and made up three places in the first corner before settling into consistent lap times. I stayed out until the Safety Car period to do the pit stop. The Safety Car bunched everyone up, but I had good track position (third) and better tyres on the rear of the car. In the second half of the race I ran with the likes of Craig Lowndes, (Jamie) Whincup, and (Russell) Ingall – this was the first time I’ve been with them and it was good experience. The last race was a non-event. The oil pump belt broke on the formation lap and that was it for the day. It was a disappointing end to the weekend because I think I’m improving and I wanted another good race.”
