Fujitsu series racer critically injured [updated].

V8 Supercar Development Series driver Ashley Cooper has been critically injured following an accident during the Clipsal 500 meeting in Adelaide.

Lets hope he pulls through with no lasting damage. 12 and a half years ago the Doctors at Adelaide had to do an emergency tracheotomy on a driver, and he went on to be a double world champion..

 1 people agree.

I know they say the corner meets FIA standards but how many people have to be injured! They keep going in supercars that costs have to be cut but this corner has totaled so many cars in the past 10 ye**** Do something about it before someone is killed! Get well soon Ashley.

Hi i was at clipsal and watching the very moment Ashley hit the wall it was a very loud bang he seemed as if he had slowed some what as he entered the corner,it sounded like he had blown a tyre(which is what got our attention) and he hit one fence on the right and re bounded head on into the other wall and just bounced across the track, as if it was a pimball machine.

To see the racing car driver wrapped up in blankets and put into an ambulance was very scary, No one new what was going on they didn't make any comments about it but all we could see was an ambulance driving flat out up the wrong side of the track. then once the race was completed the police came out and marked everything

Sad news. Very sad news. Ashley Cooper passed away in hospital at lunchtime AEDST today. My condolences to his family and friends, particularly his wife and two children aged 3 & 5.
