Ex-F1 man bidding to join V8 grid?

Former F1 racer Gianni Morbidelli has revealed that he would love the opportunity to test a V8 Supercar with a view to making a move into the Australian-based series.

Im not quite sure how you come to that conclusion maheadbear. Ive been involved with and followed touring cars in AUS for 30 years and followed world motorsport for just as long and the current series is about as entertaining as sedan based motorsport gets (worldwide). I am interested to here what form of motorsport interests you? and whether you are from AUS. because if you dont find V8 supercars entertaining Im not sure that motorsport is for you.

im from oz been watching touring cars 4 36 years and it is the most boring racing i have seen fake pit stops one team car at atime boring drivers all corporate robots and lets face it most races r over at the first corner... cant understand y it is so popular put them all in aussie race cars and we might c more than follow the leader.. dont ya think that the ute rules on sedans would b a better formula than cars that no body can afford except the very few...still sometime watch it but always very very disappointed .. after watching motorbikes v8 just dont compete..miss group c v8s must b 4 younger vb drinken generation...

Holy **** where to begin!
The pit stops may be compulsary but even in the sprint races they wouldnt make it through on one set of tyres, they are needed! The drivers are far from corporate robots, apart from nascar they are about as lively as motorsports people get. Its popular because it is one of(if not)the best sedan based racing in the world. The utes(and other production based racing) have there place, but they arent exactly the most challinging cars to drive.Granted bikes can turn on some great close racing, but not always (donington gp 08).You obviously have a distorted memory of group C,great cars but hardly close racing. And going off your spelling I think you may have had a few VBs

What V8s are you watching? The pitlane opens on lap 5 and they all dive into the pits! The tyres they have can survive another 5 laps. Our V8s are nothing like they use to be! Just like watching a congo line of cars round a track.

I never claimed that V8 supercars were the pinacle of motorsport entertainment. There are plenty of catorgories that provide more passing/entertainment. The aussie race cars & anything bike related definatly(I race a bike engined clubman & a bike engined sports prototype car!).But as far as sedans go they are about as good as it gets.I follow them because the series involves the most talented australian motorsport people, just like I follow F1 for the technical battle-certainly not for overtaking moves. Some of us get a bit more out of motorsport than just to kill a few hours on a sunday afternoon. If you dont like it,dont watch it. BTW-The aussie race car series aint cheap to run, believe me!

continued scuderus..love the pitstops in nascar thats sport .ps ambrose did a good job on sunday till some pin head rodgered him in the back side plus he pissed off montoya ha ha..anyway do we really need all this expensive tec in v8 ..its a real paper race now most of the racing is done in qualifying. engineers seem 2 b more important than drivers now days ..theres more car than driver now even ingall said that good driver cant drive around a bad set up any more...modern race cars r built fast but r they built 2 race cars or the clock... 5 cars will pit after the 1st lap because they rubbed someone and rubbin is racing dont you think.. jack brabham said take the wings off f1 and u get great racing..continued

continued scuderus..f1 super fast but together they dont perform they cant they rely 2 much on the air on their wings so the racing wont b that great..any way im not putting down aussies just think we could do better.. cheaper cars would b a start the v8s dont look fast on tv anyway untill they crash.. cars that move around ect.. look at the crowd when the appendix js or the old mustangs carmaros come out 2 play smiles all round..anyway we will agree 2 disagree.. your clubman sounds great use 2 watch them in the old days of amaroo park loved that place..dont no what a sports proto is but keep on hooning vroom vroom vroom.....................

Have to agree with maheadebear.
I used to crew in the old VK grp A days and production cars and did some racing as well, but now if I have nothing to do on a Sunday I "might' watch the V8's, when in the "old days" (group C) If I didnt go out to the track I would be stuck by the TV. Tony C has stuffed the catagory. They have the same floor pans, diffs, g/boxes,suspension, brakes and ECU's even the engines are rev limited to 7500rpm. Thank God for the bikes, I try not to miss a WSBK or Motogp race on telly and will have to make the trip down to Phillip Island one day.
