Jason Bright came agonisingly close to rewarding the Britek Motorsport crew with a points finish in Bahrain but fell just short in the latest rounds of the V8 Supercar Championship.
The Fujitsu Racing man had seen his team face a race against time to prepare for the Desert 400 following an incident at Surfers Paradise but the team was able to hit the track in Bahrain for the second race meeting in the Middle East.
The opening race had seen Bright finish in 19th place but there was disappointment on the opening lap of race two when contract with a rival damaged the suspension on his Falcon and forced him to retire.
From the back of the field for race three, Bright left it late to make his mandatory pit stop and looked good for a points finish before broken throttle linkage just two laps from the end – while running in 13th place – forced him to park at the side of the circuit.
"At least we are not taking home a smoldering mess this time," Bright reflected. "Compared to the damage from Indy and Bathurst, this doesn't look as dramatic but the end result has been pretty much the same - no points.
"The track was very tough to get on top of this weekend and we only really got the car to our liking in the final race. As we also didn't finish race #2, we had a better choice of tyres left and we could stay out longer. Then the car just stopped going down the back straight.
"We are confident that our final two rounds of the year in Tasmania and Phillip Island will bring a stronger result. I really enjoy both circuits and can't wait to have a crack at them.
"I want to congratulate Mark Winterbottom on his victory. He is not only a fellow Ford driver, he's a good friend and I'm delighted that he won the round. After my win last year in Bahrain it's proved a pretty special place for Ford."
