After mixed success in 2007, Jason Bright is hoping to put in a solid performance in the penultimate round of the V8 Supercar Championship for Fujitsu Racing.

Bright, who placed second at Symmons Plains Raceway for Ford Performance Racing last year, will grid up for his own team at the Tasmanian circuit in 2007.

After twelve rounds of the championship, Bright sits twenty seventh in the series standings, with eight scoreless ducks to his name, and the 1998 Bathurst champion has highlighted the importance of gaining consistent finishes at this weekend's event.

“Even though it's a short track, Symmons Plains has a lot of character,” said Bright.

“A long fast sweeper as well as the tightest hairpin in the championship shows this track is like no other.

“I have qualified well there over the past two years and was on the podium last year.

“We have not completed all three races at an event since round #5 at Eastern Creek, so it's important that we get a strong result in Tasmania.”

Teammate Alan Gurr has also had a disappointing year in Britek Motorsport's IRWIN Racing Falcon. Having scored just two points in 2007, he is expecting a challenge at his Tasmanian debut this weekend.

“The track is so short that picking the wrong time to pit can cost you a lap. A clever strategy can leap-frog you up the order.

“Add-in the Tassie weather and it can make for some exciting racing.”

Both Britek Motorsport Falcons will hit the track on Friday for a single practice session.
