Paul Morris has collected a small swag of six points from this weekend's Falken Tasmania Challenge at Symmons Plains in what proved a difficult weekend for the Sirromet Wines team.
Morris, who has made headlines in the V8 community for his on and off track battles with Todd Kelly at Surfers Paradise and Bahrain, finished sixteenth overall after three sprint races this weekend at the challenging Launceston-based circuit.
After battling with brake problems yesterday, Morris recovered in today's races to finish eleventh in the final sprint.
“It was good to finish both races today, especially after all the dramas we had in Bahrain a couple of weeks ago and the brake problems yesterday,” said Morris.
“I ran longer before the pit-stops in both races today to get some clear air and look after the brakes.
“Before the first race today we made some changes to try and improve the front of the car, but it hurt the rear.
“We adjusted the sway bars and springs for the last race and the car was much better.
“Today was always going to be hard starting from the back of the grid, so to finish the day just outside the top 10 was a reasonable result.”
Morris' team mate, Owen Kelly, was handed a drive through penalty after spinning the BOC Falcon of Andrew Jones in race two.
“The penalty happened after I gave him (Jones) a tap,” said Kelly.
“I got alongside him and he tried to muscle back across, as I would have done in his position.
“The contact turned him across the front of my car - it wasn't intentional - it's just what happened.
It was a tough weekend for Kelly, who has replaced Fabian Coulthard as the team's second driver.
He became embroiled in a multi-car pileup after Garth Tander's disastrous crash in race three, which lost him the championship lead.
“In the last race I went off the track in the early laps after some drama between other cars in front of me.
“There was dust everywhere, I couldn't see anything so I drove off to get out of the way.
