Paul Morris Motorsports launches campaign with new sponsor.

Supercheap Auto will again be the naming rights sponsor of a V8 Supercar team in 2008, this time with Paul Morris Motorsports – the only Queensland-based Holden operation in the series.

PMM is the third team in V8 Supercars to be graced with naming rights sponsorship from the automotive retailer, with previous incarnations of Supercheap Auto Racing including Steve Ellery Racing and Paul Weel Racing.

In addition to a new naming rights sponsor, Paul Morris Motorsports has a new driver in the form of 2005 Drivers' Champion, Russell Ingall, who returns to Holden after spending five years at rival brand Ford.

A complete restructure of the team's operation in the off-season has the team in good stead for the 2008 series, and Ingall anticipates a return to his form during the forthcoming championship – which starts in Adelaide on February 21.

“All the people involved have been carefully selected not only on their ability, but on their ability to gel well with others because that's a major factor,” said Ingall.

“It was definitely a careful selection and I'd say it's one of the best-assembled crew of any V8 Supercar team.

“To be honest, that's the backbone of the whole thing. Without good people behind the scenes, you're just not going to win so that was the number one priority.

“Everything else flows on from there. Yes, it's important to build a good race car, but you can't do that unless you have good people.”

This is the first time that Paul Morris Motorsports will utilise two top class drivers in the current formula of V8 Supercars - Ingall is of a different mould to the inexperienced rookies that have driven for Morris over the past few seasons.

Paul Morris is looking forward to 2008 as one of the best years for his team.

“He (Ingall) has the results and we're expecting him to perform, but we have to make sure we have good enough cars to do it, and he's part of that process as well. There's no one to blame except ourselves if it doesn't go the way we want it to.”
