Despite racing to a top ten placing in the second race of the weekend at the Clipsal 500, Jason Bright says he is chasing a better result as the V8 Supercar Championship heads to Eastern Creek for the second round of the year.
Bright battled back from an engine issue in race one in Adelaide to make his way through the field in race two at the wheel of the Fujitsu Racing Falcon but he said he was still hoping for more from the second round of the season.
"Adelaide was a pretty good start to the year for us, but we do expect a better result at Eastern Creek," he said. "We didn't get the best out of the car in Adelaide and we also had some engine dramas in qualifying and the opening race. That set us back and we had to come from behind in race two. Considering that we started off the back and missed all the chaos on the track, tenth place was a good result.
"Eastern Creek has been pretty good to me in the past and last year it was one of our strongest sprint rounds. As a team we go into the Sydney round with the Adelaide experience behind us and I'm confident that we can work much better as a group."
Fujitsu Racing Chief Engineer Geoff Slater believes better teamwork could bring a result well inside the top-ten from the weekend.
"As a team we are getting better at working with each other," he said. "Adelaide was a good shakedown for the group, now we can look at working much better as a team.
"That means having the car on the pace from the outset and qualifying in the top-ten. Our race pace is pretty good, but we need to give ourselves every advantage against very tough competition."
